International Microwave Symposium 2018

During the recent International Microwave Symposium 2018 held in Philadelphia, TechRocket Radio Museum exhibited one of its newest add ons to the collection, a Hallicrafters S-20R receiver. 

Manufactured from 1939 to 1945, with 9 tubes and covering four bands 54KHz to 44 MHz, this receiver is a true classice with its Machine Age design and the famous "h" logo on the speaker grille.

During a recent visit to the United States Navy Museum in Washington DC I had the chance to see the XAF Radar Serial No.1, the first ever naval radar, which was mounted on the battleship New York in 1939. The XAF Radar was invented by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory.

Listen to Glenn Miller over the air throught RCA's AR88D Receiver

Have you ever wondered how radio sound was in the 40s? Listen to Glen Miller's Moonlight Serenade through TechRocket Radio Museum RCA AR88D receiver over the air. The audio is fed via a computer into a miniature HF trasmitter that broadcast the signal emulating a RF station. At the receiver the station is tuned the same way it would be as any other normal HF station.
